Ballet Recital
Abigail really enjoyed her ballet class. She started attending last year and always looks forward to her Friday afternoon dance sessions. She had a new teacher this year, but Miss Naomi seemed to do just as a well as the former teacher, if not better. Last Saturday they finished their year with a demonstration of moves and a short recital. Our girl had no nerves at all!

Kitchen Painting
We started painting the kitchen last winter, as in the winter of 2012-13. That project has been interrupted numerous times, but when I have a free weekend I may spend it painting. Isaac saw me cleaning the cabinets before painting and wanted to help.
Russian Dinner
Last week we let Ethan pick a country to study all week. He picked Russia, so we spent the week looking up Russian recipes, looking up Russian/English words, coloring pictures of St. Basil's Cathedral in Moscow, and watching travel documentaries of Russia.
We finished up our study with an authentic Russian dinner of schshi (shee, cabbage soup), pelmeni (pierogi), and black bread. For our dinner, we each picked a Russian name and used as many Russian words in our dinner time conversation as we could: voda (water), stol (table), koshka (cat), dom (house), derevo (tree), and lozkha (spoon).

Late Winter Snow
The 2013-14 winter was the coldest, snowiest winter I've ever experienced in Michigan. Most winters, we never have more than three or four inches at a time, with many thaws. This winter: lots of snow, and no thaws. Here's how the house looked in February:
